World-class technology needed now.
Stardome is a not-for-profit organisation that relies on the backing of our community and trusts to keep its doors open. It has been reported in the media over the last 18 months how the planetarium equipment is failing and Stardome needs to initiate a significant technology upgrade.
We are in the process of seeking funding to assist us in this undertaking and we need you to show our stakeholders we mean something to you by becoming a “Stardome Friend”.
In doing this we can keep you better informed on what can be done to assist us in our task of moving our technology back into the world-class arena and enable us to continue our emphasis on being a world-class asset to Auckland city and New Zealand.
Stardome needs your support.
The planetarium is a critical element of Stardome Observatory used by 98% of visitors. It can, and has, changed many people’s lives for the better via multimedia and presenter education with the introduction to the marvels of space and its science astronomy. The proposal to move from existing and dated analogue based technology to a modern digital system is essential to ensure the facility has the potential to be a sustainable enterprise and be there for future generations.
We are important to our region and beyond.
Stardome delivers an information resource and edutainment experience to close to 60,000 New Zealanders every year, 60% of which are children.
Living in a big city with increased light pollution makes it increasingly difficult for many to be able see our night sky. Stardome can, through its planetarium, show you this sky at any time day or night, rain or shine.
Who is going to be the voice of astronomy in New Zealand if Stardome Observatory closes its doors?
